Global Celebration, Earth Day 2018: End Plastic Pollution
Imagine our beautiful planet Earth. Imagine putting a piece of plastic on the ground. Then another piece right next to it. Keep going until you’ve made a long line of plastic. Guess how long it would have to be to contain the amount of plastic that is thrown away in one year? It could circle the whole Earth four times.
This Earth Day everyone around the world is coming together to reduce plastic pollution and this includes children! We want to get children on board and thinking about our planet. Plastic hurts the animals that live in the sea, litters our beautiful beaches and stays in landfills for 450 years. That means your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandchild might see the plastic straw you had in your juice!
Children love their planet and the creatures that live in it. Luckily, they can really help by simply recycling the plastic that they do use. It may have been our generation’s fault that only 5% of plastic gets recycled but it’s going to be our children’s work to clear it up!
As we’re Go Kid Music we’re going to help the best way we know – through music! This event will be full of original songs about our planet ready to stir up the next generation of environmentalists! Your family will be singing all the way to the recycling bin!
Let’s share information & ideas on how to cut down on our use of plastic, simple things your family can do.
